Stanton Redcroft Ltd
The information on S-R Ltd is even more sketchy than on SI.

1965

The company started when Stanton Instruments, makers of lovely chemical
balances (formed by STANley and HarringTON) were joined by John REDfern and Rob WhitCROFT to make a huge (by today's standards) thermobalance. There is
one in the Science Museum in London, as well as a few still going in
universities. They were built like tanks. The furnace was so heavy that it
was raised with the help of a counterweight formed by the power transformer.

They were a small innovative company who competed well with the big boys,
especially overseas. Their demise is a salutary illustration of what happens
when the money-men gain control, rather than people who are interested in,
and care about, what they make.

 1966

Commercial DTA (differential thermo analysis) introduced.

1968, November

Entire group of Stanton companies sold to Avery Ltd.

1983

Stanton-Redcroft became part of Thermal Scientific plc.

I am indebted to Steve Warrington and Barry Oliver for providing and compiling much of the above information.
